Foundations of Hip Hop with the Common Core

This program explores creative expression through hip hop [rhythm, dance, beatmaking, and song].  Kaitlin McGaw OR Tommy Shepherd teach foundations of hip hop music through rhythm games, call and response group songs, beatboxing and rhyming, and writing songs. Students will develop their own sense of expression and storytelling, learn musical terminology and collaborate as peers. The songs that are explored weave directly to curricular topics in the common core such as literacy, math, science and collaboration. Residencies are customized to the curricular needs of each classroom.
