Make & Play Andean Panpipes

CHASKINAKUY

In this residency, Edmond and Francy work with students to create their own panpipes, and teach them to play a simple melody and rhythm. Lessons connect concepts of pitch, tone, volume and pattern to music fundamentals, and encourage students to think critically about the creation of sound and melody. This program also places a strong emphasis on the value of teamwork and communication, since panpipes can be played solo but are truly meant to be enjoyed as a collaborative ensemble.
