Ocean Art Odyssey

EDNA CABCABIN MORAN

(2 session minimum)

Students read a Polynesian short story, picture book or poem about the Pacific ocean and create "woven" collage fish and a large undersea mural . This project combines individually-created fish with lauhala-basket-weaving-inspired textures, embellished with student mixed colors , and a large group-created mural background depicting the ocean floor. Students will play with color theory in the "natural world" observing how it creates opportunities for marine life contrast, mimicry and camouflage.
