HALAU O KEIKIALI'I

Hālau o Keikiali’i is a traditional Hawaiian cultural ensemble, rooted in San Francisco. Their goal has been to spread awareness of the Hawaiian people and their traditional customs, values and rituals. This ensemble introduces audiences and students to the history and culture of Hawaii.

Traditional Hawaiian Dance and Music

Grades: K-12 - Pricing $820

 This assembly performance program introduces audiences to the history and culture of Hawaii through traditional and modern dances, music, and language. The hula (dance) includes oli (chant), mele (traditional songs), himeni (modern songs), lole hula (hula attire), ‘olelo (language), and mo’olelo (stories).

residency program:

Hawaiian Culture and Dance

Grades: K-12 - Pricing: $105/Session

This residency offers students the opportunity to explore the steps, motions, and music of traditional Hawaiian dance. Students will learn to work cooperatively and to tell a stories dance.

Workshop programs:

Hawaiian Hula

Grades: K-12 - Pricing: $175/Session

Typically occurring in conjunction with an assembly performance program, this workshop offers students the opportunity to learn basic Hula steps and motions, incorporating them into song.

Lei Making

Grades: K-12 - Pricing: $175/Session

Typically occurring in conjunction with an assembly performance program, this workshop offers students the opportunity to deepen their learning about Hawaiian culture. Using wili (winding) technique, students will learn to make leis using natural fibers.
