Changing the world, one life at a time

We all know that YANC's work enriches the lives of the 30,000+ youth each year, most of them low-income and most of them youth of color; we open a window to a creative world many of these young people haven't experienced before. This enrichment is life-changing, but the power doesn't stop with enrichment. Our artists guide students in everything from developing social awareness, relationship skills, and other social emotional competencies to improving their understanding of math and language arts. The arts are one of the most powerful tools we can wield to change lives. I was honored to talk about the power of this work in a recent interview with the Leaderspring Center, where I've just finished my Fellowship in the 2024 LeadStrong Women of Color cohort.
