Entry Level African Drumming

The Program will introduce the students to African Rhythms based on Mathematics and how it relates to music. “Rhythm is Math” will be fully explained in hands on practice. The Students will learn how to create rhythms using numbers. They will also learn how to accompany a guitar tune, a piano tune, a recorded music or how to play a solo for a Dancer.

This course introduces students to the art of African dancing as well as social dancing and to provide the necessary skills and understanding for an appreciation of the artistic, athletic, and social qualities of dance. Throughout the course, students will learn various concepts surrounding dance including music, history of dance, culture, etiquette, and application in social settings as well as stage performances. In addition to being a rich learning experience, this course will bring the dancer out of you. This course meets the Core is designated for Artistic Understanding: Creative Practice.
