This residency focuses on how music can be a powerful tool for building community and driving social change. Over several weeks, students will engage in discussions, workshops, and rehearsals that explore music's role in social movements, community empowerment, and global unity. The residency culminates in a school-wide performance showcasing the work created by the students. Key Elements include exploration of social justice through music and its impact on communities, workshops and discussions about the role of music in activism and cultural identity, collaborative music-making where students create a piece about a theme of unity, justice, or social change. Residencies include a culminating performance where students perform songs they have worked on, demonstrating what they’ve learned about community and social change through music. Learning Outcomes for students include understanding how music can unite people and be used to advocate for social causes. Students will work collaboratively to create meaningful music and be empowered to see music as a tool for making a positive impact on their community.
